SASA II Information Letter - June 2/2010

Dear Sir/Madam

After a successful SA Development Summer Games in Pretoria we think all of us are motivated for the next events that await us in the rest of 2010.

1. SA DEVELOPMENT GAMES ~ Pretoria
Thank you very much to Gauteng and especially Tshwane Metro that organized the 8th SA Summer Games on behalf of SASA-II. We selected a Cricket shadow team for 2011 Tri Nations Series, Swimming teams for the Intellectually Impaired and swimmers with Down Syndrome and a Table Tennis shadow team.
We believe the best athletes and the best teams won – congratulations to all of you!

We wish KZNA all the best with their arrangements for the above Games that will take place in Richards Bay from 16 – 23 October 2010.
The participating codes include: Athletics, Basketball, Cross Country, Football for junior teams, Futsal for senior teams, Hocker, Indoor Rowing and Netball.
Please do your preparation in time.

3. ELEGIBILITY WORKSHOP
INAS-FID is organizing an eligibility workshop in Egypt for the Africa countries from 20 – 24 September. We hope to get support from Lotto to send all the Provincial Eligibility Officers and National Committee to attend this workshop. Please keep this date open.

4. LOTTO APPLICATIONS
We do not know when the new Lotto invitation for applications will open but it will be soon. Remember to send Charles a summary of all your school’s and province’s applications.

5. DATA BASE
Charles only received 3 Provinces’ Data Base Summaries. The Provinces that did send copies to Charles will be included in the Business Plan to SRSA. INAS-FID also now needs our Data Base.

We received the money for the last Capacity Building event which is for the Council (NEC, National Code Conveners and Provincial Chairpersons) plus Provincial Secretary General or Provincial Sport Convener

7. INAS-FID 5th WORLD FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
We are glad to announce that the Media Launch and Draw took place on Friday, 4 June at Meropa Entertainment Casino.
The Gauteng and Limpopo Province Football players who are in the shadow team attended the event. The draw results were e-mail to the Provinces on Monday, 7 June.

Attached please find an invitation to the Provinces for volunteers that are interested to take part in INAS-FID 5th World Football Championships.

Provinces that are interested in bringing their Football teams to Limpopo Province as supporters are welcome to make contact with Cooky Mehale if they need assistance.

8. GLOBAL GAMES
We are sure the whole of SASA-II still think about the Global Games in Czech Republic, the preparations and the results. And yet, INAS-FID is busy organizing the next Global Games in Italy from 25 Sept – 4 Oct 2011, yes it is correct 2011. You are welcome to search for more information on INAS-FID website. 9. ROWING
As you may know, Water Rowing will be one of the codes in the program for the II’s at the Paralympics. Rowing SA is very excited about this and they are willing to assist SASA-II with the preparations, selections and training of the athletes.
We need to make contact with the Rowing Association in our Provinces and help them to identify possible rowers.

Please keep Fikile Diko informed about developments in Provinces.

Indoor rowing will be part of the SA Development Elite Games. If possible, we will select a team that will represent SA at the World Indoor Rowing Championships late this year.

10. POOL
Benji Poho was appointed acting pool convener. All the best to Benji and we hope pool will be kicking off very soon.
We applied to Lotto for pool tables but are still waiting to hear if it was approved. In the mean time we need to identify pool players and also get involved in the Provincial mainstream clubs.
